For a modern take on a Whiskey Sour, try this twist which uses miso paste to add more complexity and balance to the traditional cocktail.
Ingredients

2 ½ oz The Spirit of Bourbon
- ½ tsp white miso paste
- ¾ oz demerara syrup*
- The juice of a whole lemon
- Lemon peel
Method
Mash the miso paste with the demerara syrup* in the bottom of a cocktail shaker until dissolved.
Add the The Spirit of Bourbon and lemon juice and dry shake for 15 seconds.
Add ice and shake briefly to chill.
Strain into a coupe glass
Twist the lemon peel over the glass.
* Demerara Syrup
Heat 2 tablespoons of water with a quarter cup of demerara (or turbinado) sugar in a saucepan until it's dissolved
Remove from heat and allow to cool
Refrigerate for up to 2 weeks.
